Alexander Kennedy is a direct descendant of one of the foremost Gypsy/Traveller families in Scotland. His bloodline can be traced back to the Queen of the Yetholm Gypsies, Esther Faa Blyth. He has always taken a keen interest in his Gypsy heritage, and has shared his unique expertise and knowledge of British Gypsy/Traveller history, culture and language with many organisations.
He also has an authentic horse-drawn Bow Top wagon dating back to the 1930s. The wagon is maintained to the highest standard and is frequently used in exhibitions. Most of his life he has spent travelling on the road trying to maintain his traditional way of life and he has had first hand experience of discrimination and misunderstanding. He is extremely proud of his Gypsy heritage and would like to redress the balance by giving an insight into his unique way of life. |
